Hosting Branson’s crew

The pressure was on Julie Beauchesne during her first week as the proud owner of Nunattaq Suites. One of her first guests was Sir Richard Branson, founder and chairman of the Virgin Group of Companies and business demigod. Branson and a crew of 12 people were passing through the city of Iqaluit last April as a part of a Northern tour to witness the effects of global warming. “I did meet him but I was so busy organizing the house I didn’t get to talk to him much,” she says. “Still, it was wonderful to have him.”

hostingShe hasn’t had anyone as famous as Branson stay at her place since but a year after starting the business she’s been every bit as busy. The house has four bedrooms – each with a private bathroom – and is a five-minute drive (or half-hour walk) from the downtown core.

The bed and breakfast has all the amenities the modern-day traveller has come to expect: cable TV, phones, wireless Internet access and a spacious kitchen and living room guests can use. The house can take as many as 12 guests at a time. The deal also includes breakfast and airport pickup and drop-off, if required. All of this will cost you just $150 a night.
